Jesus is brought before Pilate, who offers to release him or Barabbas, a convicted murderer. The crowd chooses Barabbas, leading Pilate to scourge and crucify Jesus. Jesus dies on the cross, and his body is taken by Joseph of Arimathea and laid in a new tomb.
